Malcolm Hunt Associates – Specialists in Environmental and Building Acoustics.

We specialise in the prediction, measurement, assessment and management of sound in the environment, both indoors and out.

Since our inception back in the 1990s, Malcolm Hunt Associates has established a solid track record in assisting public and private sector clients with acoustic assessment and design projects, including the provision of audit services and expert witness capabilities.

Our principal strength lies in our people. We have experienced specialist staff with post graduate training in acoustics as well as comprehensive practical experience that is constantly being updated via attendance at courses, seminars and conferences.

Malcolm is the Principal Engineer and Director of Malcolm Hunt Associates. Malcolm’s career spans over 25 years’ experience in acoustics consultancy. Malcolm has developed a highly regarded expertise, with wide experience as an expert witness in legal proceedings for resource consent, and in the Environment and High Courts.

Malcolm was awarded the 2010 Standards New Zealand Meritorious Service Award for service on various committees developing acoustic standards over the last 15 years.

Lindsay Hannah MASNZ
  • Bachelor of Building Science
  • Master of Philosophy (College of Sciences), specialising in acoustics [awarded with Distinction]
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Science, specialising in acoustics [awarded with Distinction]

Lindsay has over 12 years’ experience as an acoustic consultant at Malcolm Hunt Associates, ranging from acting as an expert witness in legal proceedings through to project management of multiple projects across various sectors.

Lindsay originally trained and qualified in building sciences, prior to achieving a Master’s Degree from Massey University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Science, specialising in acoustics. Lindsay has received multiple awards and distinctions during his studies, including the IHRACE Prize for Excellence in Degree Work and the New Zealand Institute of Architects Prize from Victoria University School of Architecture and Design.

Lindsay has a wide skill base, and is an elected member of the New Zealand Acoustic Society Council and a past committee member of the Wellington Audio Association. Lindsay has had papers published in national and international acoustics journals and is a peer reviewer of papers for publication.
